it's officially cold out.

i woke up this morning to frost on all the windows and ice on all the puddles on my way to the bus stop. so i guess that means i have to get out my hats and mittens now? I'M NOT READY!!over the weekend, it was cold enough for hail (and therefore too cold for yard work....too bad), but that didn't keep us from getting outside and "enjoying" the weather for my dear friend lo's birthday. a local brewery, harriet brewing, was having a food truck festival, and because lo knows everything that ever goes on in the twin cities (seriously, how do you do that lady??), she thought it would be the perfect spot for her birthday get together.and it was. of course it was. even the cold and rain couldn't keep us crazy minnesotans away from beer and delicious food served from trucks. it must be something in our genes. i had a delicious belgian ipa called "west side" and THE BEST tilapia curry ever. seriously, people were stealing bites of my meal left and right and declaring it the winner of the food choices that day. there was a lot of menu regret amongst my fellow partygoers, sorry i'm not sorry 'bout it.

(hanna's fish tacos were delish too though.)

i was woefully underdressed for the event (think booties, dress, tights, light cardigan and light army jacket), mostly because i was not ready to make the jump into down jackets and mittens. and you know what, it was also because i wanted to look cute! can't we all relate to that feeling of just wanting to put on an adorable outfit, weather and common sense be damned? i will not apologize for keeping my fashion sense strong in the face of a looming winter. (also, thank you to caitlin for giving me one of her handwarmers when holding the beer became unbearable without one. teamwork!)

(look at my pretty friends! and also, look who missed the aztec memo. shocker.)

it was a fabulous event with good food, good beer, and good people. hope you had the happiest of birthdays lolo! Mister Man and i had to call it quits a little early to head out to bum around and watch baseball with a couple of cool kids. i finally warmed up with some spiked cider and meatballs, and got to talk wedding plans with my little liser (who i just realized i've known for almost 15 years now, how is that possible?!) while the menfolk talked about power tools and watched baseball playoffs. literally, they talked about different kinds of saws and their varied uses. weirdos.

(how adorable are they? the men are pretty cute too i guess. hah, i got jokes for days!)

the rest of the weekend was all housework and lamenting the coming of winter (and ending the sugar detox with a salted caramel apple!), but luckily for us winter also means the start of harry potter marathons and couch snuggles. i try to get in as much time as i can now that MM's travel season is in full swing...i don't get nearly enough with that man as i'd like, so i hoard it all when he's home.

so now that it's cold out, and i have no desire to be outside anymore, get ready to be sick of me. in an attempt to avoid squawking about the weather all winter, i'll be baking and cooking more and maybe possibly playing around with more hair tutorials. don't say you weren't warned.

is there anything you lovelies want to see? any recipes or hair tutorials you want me to feature on here? i'm open to anything!

[also, don't forget to check out my sponsor deal going on right now for the rest of october. my newest sidebar friend is nikki from the rural rookie, you should join her and the rest of the cool kids over there!]
