i get one night.

i was going to post a grandpa soup recipe today. i had every intention of it. hanna and i were going to cook it up last night. we had plans and everything. and then i decided to have my annual "winter is coming" slump. maybe it was hormones, maybe it was being lonely, maybe it was the weather (it was almost definitely the weather), but whatever it was, i went from zero to fully slumped in about two hours.  and so i cancelled plans with the cousin and made a single lady meal and was a lazy bum the entire night. which means NO SOUP FOR YOU! (if you get that reference, you're a lovely human.)  i call these nights, "rebuilding" nights. i don't like feeling slumpy, it generally makes me feel cranky and upset for not having a better attitude about everything. and so i allow myself a "rebuilding" night to fully embrace the slump and get it out of my system. just one though. if i let myself stay in a slump too long, it becomes a problem, not just a slump. and so i get one night.  it's amazing what one night can do. it can take you from sad to happy, from annoyed to content, from tired to rested. one night can bring so much rest. and so i get one night.  and then tomorrow i will make grandpa soup with hanna. and all will be right with the world.

and so while i'm slumpy, i'm going to introduce you (or re-introduce you) to a very non-slumpy girl. my soul sister, if you will. one of the lights in this life of mine, she is just a ray of sunshine. amber is back to say hello to you all, and aren't she and mr. thomas adorable?! We're back Hooley-ans because Erin's so awesome and we just love this little space of hers! You can catch us over at Mr. Thomas and Me where we talk all things life -fun, food, faith, and cocktails! Currently we're settling in to the fall season with lots of flannel pajamas, cups of tea, and a new series, Thanks-living, that documents our grateful hearts. Our deepest of gratitude (as of late) has been for deeper love and communication in our -still sort of- new marriage. We, of course, are also spending much time being thankful for our sweet mutt, Hazel, who brings a little laughter to every day.

find amber all these other places too! she's so much fun i just want to squeeze her to pieces!
