bernadette: five months old.

i just had a moment when i was starting to draft this post where i realized that this is my fifth post about Bernadette already. and for some reason that just seems like so many. how can she have so many posts about her already? she has almost been around for half of a year. HOW.

this month was super, duper hard. like, trying to raise three kids on no sleep hard. because that's exactly what we were doing. trying to raise three kids. on no sleep. it was hard. now up until this month, Bernadette kept it mostly easy on us, and then the four-month sleep regression happened and she decided she wanted to win the award for best four month sleep regression in our family. and by best, i mean, the most intense. not cool baby!

bernadette started doing some cool stuff though, so it totally explains the sleep regression. she started to eat solids! peanut butter, sweet potatoes, carrots, applesauce, cereal, prunes. she's pretty apathetic about it, but she doesn't think it stinks either. she mostly likes to try to grab the spoon and get it into her mouth on her own, she is definitely like her siblings in that aspect. she also started to sit up on her own (with the boppy behind her because she's prone to randomly falling over), and that has been just delightful. we're still waiting on teeth, but based on some recent behaviors i'd say those aren't far away.

this baby does a mean blue steel, she has pretty much the best eyes in the whole wide world. dark, deep blue with the best eyelashes you've ever seen. fight me if you disagree. i have said it before, but i have no idea how Mister Man and i make such beautiful babies. i mean, we're not terrible looking people, but we're not as beautiful as our babies. lucky genes i guess?since we had the worst winter ever, Bernadette has basically been a shut-in for the entirety of her short life. we are finally having good weather here in the tundra, and it turns out she LOVES the outdoors. she adores being out in the stroller or the carrier in the fresh air, which has made all of our lives so much better. the older kids can be outside even when she isn't napping, and we are living our best lives. i can't wait until she really has the hang of sitting and i can plunk her down on a blanket while the kids play and i work in the garden. i'm living for those days.

miss Bernadette: you make us consume a lot of coffee. like, a lot of coffee. but you also never fail to put a smile on all of our faces. every time you look at us, we can't help but smile. so with the coffee comes happiness. you are well on your way to being a busy baby just like your siblings and we can't wait to see what your next few months bring. love you, you sweet, happy baby!
