home sweet home.

YOU GUYS WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!i am so excited i can't even form words appropriately to convey my feelings. and i am feeling all the feelings!it has been the struggle of my young life to hold off on telling you all about this craziness until it was official and we had the keys in our hands. it felt like i was keeping a secret from you guys, even though a lot of you were told in person (or via email), and the smartest among you probably guessed why i was squawking about being so busy this month. (um, pinterest laundry rooms anyone?)so now i can get this big thing off my chest! Mister Man and i are officially homeowners. and i am in deep, deep love with our little place. and the story of how we got it, well, it's basically my fairytale.

(i didn't have time for photos beyond the bits and pieces i had on my phone, so all you get is a peek at my favorite details. more photos will come as we get ourselves moved in!)

we were looking for homes for about a month and a half, and were getting so, so frustrated, as i may or may not have said a million times. we had seen one house that was above our price range, and were just hitting a bunch of dead ends. as we were leaving the home, we looked at the one next door and said, very innocently, "oh, we wish that one was for sale. it looks so nice!" we were informed that it was owned by young people, so it was unlikely that it would be going on the market. and that was that.except as it usually happens, the universe fate God had plans of working in mysterious ways. and not three weeks later, we got a call that THE house had just gone on the market, and when could we see it. well, we had been through this before, where a house goes on the market, and 24 hours later, there are multiple offers and no way a young couple like us can compete. so we said we would come by the next afternoon. we really had no faith in anything at this point, and had a conversation about starting our search in the suburbs on our way to the house. yea, it had gotten that bad.and then we walked in. and i lost control of my jaw and started drooling everywhere. i'm not kidding you guys. it was like someone took the house in my brain and manifested it right there where i was standing. and the weirdest/best thing was that Mister Man was on the exact same page as me, which hadn't happened at many houses before that.[gallery type="square" ids="2038,2037"]our wishlist consisted of the following:

  • newer kitchen with counterspace
  • separate dining room
  • 3 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • minimal work to be done
  • deck and patio
  • fenced-in backyard
  • newer roof
  • wood fireplace

our new home has the following:

  • newer kitchen with counterspace
  • separate dining room
  • 3 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • minimal work to be done
  • deck and patio
  • fenced-in backyard
  • newer roof
  • wood fireplace

RIGHT???so obviously i started to freak out because this was the perfect house at the perfect price in the city, and there was no way we were going to get it. every house we had seen up to that point had sold with multiple offers and much higher than asking price. i had reason to be nervous, is what i'm saying. but we had to try. so we put an offer on it an hour after we saw it.did i mention that all of this was happening on our first wedding anniversary? oh i didn't? silly me. well it was. it was the anniversary of our "i do", which was making all of it seem even more surreal. we had big plans to go out to dinner to celebrate, and as i was about put mascara on my second eye, we got a phone call. it was our realtor calling to tell us that our offer had been accepted. say what??yea. so we went from house hunting to being homeowners on the same day we celebrated being married for a year. we like to do things big around here, okay? i told the husband that maybe we should try to pop out a baby on june 1 next year and just really keep the streak going! (kidding baby...kind of. but i'm kidding. but not really.)i am so excited to share our new home with you over the next few months. it will be a decorating/organizational work in progress, and i will definitely need support and inspiration from any and all of you along the way. so don't be shy! thanks for being such wonderful people, i'm excited to share this next part of our journey with all of you. woop woop!
