mint tea cocktail recipes.

hello all! i think we need a drink. or maybe two drinks. because today's post is a two for one, a pick your poison, a more bang for your buck recipe post. i figured i should post something other than a baby update before the next (late) one goes up too. because someone asked me the other day what my blog was about, and i was forced to say, "uh, it's basically just a blog about my babies' monthly milestones at this point. but i used to make up drink recipes and write about funny stuff! but yea, it's mostly just babies now."truth be told, i can't take credit for these cocktails, they were created by the one and only Mister Man. back when we were young and carefree, we used to love making up different drink recipes to try, and that's kind of how i got started doing them on here. he is super creative and likes to try different flavor combinations when something sounds good to him. oddly, these recipes were inspired by the stomach bug that raged through our house a few days prior. he wanted a cocktail, but also wanted to make sure his stomach stayed settled, so he compromised with mint tea.  i love how these cocktails are pretty basic, but the addition of the mint tea makes them feel fresh and light and summery. mixing it with bourbon really lightens up what can sometimes feel like a cold weather liquor, and mixing it with gin adds another layer to what some people think of as a one-trick pony cocktail.i'll stop typing and leave you with the recipes now because we all know we can't stand those recipe posts where you just have to keep scrolling and scrolling and scrolling through meaningless words before getting to the good stuff. i know you know what i'm talking about. and you know you hate it too. enjoy! mint tea-bourbon cocktail (makes one drink, easily multiplied)

  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 2 oz. brewed and chilled mint tea
  • 2 oz. bourbon
  • ginger beer

add honey to the bottom of a lowball glass. fill glass with ice. pour mint tea and bourbon over ice and give it a quick stir. the honey won't completely dissolve at this point. top with ginger beer. best enjoyed while sitting next to a bonfire in the summer.mint tea-elderflower gin & tonic (makes ones drink, easily multiplied)

  • 2 oz. brewed and chilled mint tea
  • 2 oz. gin
  • elderflower tonic

fill a lowball glass with ice. pour mint tea and gin over ice and give it a quick stir. top with elderflower tonic to taste (because sometimes you want to taste the gin, sometimes you want to taste the mixer). best enjoyed next to a body of water in the summer.
