bang bang.

i went and did something crazy last night. i cut bangs into my hair.

well, i didn't cut them, my amazing stylist kristal did. if you live in st. paul, you should totally try 526 salon at some point. and kristal. she did my hair for the wedding as well, and i trust her with each and every hair on my head.

this is a pretty big thing for me to do, because i'm not one to make changes easily. especially changes that will require putting a little extra time into my hair. i'm pretty much a wash, sleep on wet hair, throw into a topknot/at most throw a few curls in type of hair person. (what was that sentence?) bangs now require me to use a blowdryer. possibly on my entire head. every day. what have i done? (but i think i like them!)

in other news, i went on a baking binge last night. one full-size coffee cake, three mini-size coffee cakes, and one cinnamon sugar apple skillet cake later, my kitchen was finally clean at around midnight last night. i'm not the kind of person who cleans as i go, so generally the kitchen looks like i flung batter everywhere by the time i get done. but it was worth every single dish i had to wash. because now i have lots of delicious sugary foods to gorge on this weekend.

this is my mom's coffee cake recipe, which is the most delicious thing you will ever eat. i actually prefer to make it in a 9x13 pan, but i'm bringing it as a treat for the girls weekend and needed a little more portability. sometimes i wish i was better at making food that was pretty, but as long as it tastes good, right? like i always say, i ain't no food blogger. although maybe someday i will do a post on something that i make. i do have a couple special family recipes up my sleeve. (don't worry meghan, i won't reveal any santa cookie secrets!)

by the way, this skillet cake? this would be great for a brunch or just anytime you want to impress people. because it's in a skillet, yo! anything looks instantly more homemade and rustic when it's in a skillet. this recipe really spoke to my inner laura ingalls, you guys. which is really all i can ask for with most things.

hope everyone has a lovely weekend. apparently it might snow in minnesota? okay? i'm okay with this? eh.
