homemade essential oil bath salts recipe.

hi there! can you even believe that i've written a non-baby related post? the nesting desire must be getting really strong, because even i'm shocked that i wrote this. but you know what, after realizing that i liked these enough to pack them in my hospital bag, i figured i'd share how i make them so you all could try it yourselves if that's something you're into.this is a diy recipe that will make you go, "why have i never done this before?" it's so easy, so inexpensive, and you can make it for yourself or big batch it and make it for gifts. if you've ever wondered what else you can use essential oils for that isn't too out there or too complicated, then this recipe is for you.you may know that i'm a big fan of using essential oils around the house, whether by diffusing them to scent a room, using them in homemade cleaning solutions, or making my own personal care products. i have a second instagram account where i share my partly crunchy ways if you're interested, but i also think that anyone can appreciate a good, natural diy recipe that's actually something you'll use, so every once in a while i'll post them here.i've been making myself these essential oil bath salts for a couple of years now, and the thing i love most about them is how quickly you can throw them together. if you keep some plain epsom salts and a mason jar on hand in your bathroom, you can easily add any essential oils you feel like that day and add them to your bath right away.epsom salts are such a great anti-inflammatory. they help relax your muscles quicker than a bath alone, promote digestion, and  can even help soothe cramps. they're great to have on hand when a bubble bath just isn't going to cut it. i packed a jar in my hospital bag for the birth of our third child because after giving birth, all of that is so helpful and i just love the scent of the ones i make so much.i've also made big batches of these and put them in mason jars with cute labels and some greenery or flowers for easy, inexpensive gifts for christmas or mother's day. it's such a great gift idea, and i actually had people request that i use bigger jars if i make them again next year because they loved it so much.homemade essential oil bath salts recipe

  • 2 C. epsom salts (i get mine at walgreens)
  • 8-10 drops essential oils (my favorite is eucalyptus+lavender, but you can use a single scent or any combo you like)
  • pint size mason jar
  • labels (optional, for gifting)
  • decoration like eucalyptus leaves or dried lavender sprigs (optional, for gifting)

add the epsom salts and essential oils to the mason jar. shake well to combine before using. use half of the jar or the whole jar for one bath. sprinkle the salts into the bath as it's filling up and mix to dissolve. the recipe can easily be multiplied to make larger batches. to make a larger batch, add the salt and the oil into a big stainless steel or glass bowl and mix in there before adding the salts to the mason jars.
