the best laid plans.
i have big expectations for this weekend.i really have big expectations for every weekend. visions of coffee walks, baking, drinks with friends, it all seems possible at 4:45pm on friday afternoon. sidebar: my lovely friend caeli at nickandcaeli.blogspot.com did a fun 20 questions post with me on her blog, and my ideal fall weekend plans are laid out (very specifically) there. (you should go read that post, then read her post from today. she is pure inspiration).so i have these awesome ideas, then usually what happens is that i drink one too many drinks on friday night, sleep in too late on saturday morning, and all my best laid plans are wasted. well, not this weekend.my husband asked me out on a date yesterday. he actually made a point to ask me, while we were making dinner, junior high style, "hey, would you, like, want to catch a movie or something with me on friday night?" i obviously responded with, "um, i don't think i have any plans. sure, i'd love to go out with you." i'd barf if i didn't love it so much. so yes. we are going on a date tonight! guess where? stop, you'll never guess, what a dumb thing to try. we are going to dinner at YANG'S (you have to write YANG'S in capital letters, it's the law) and then to see a movie. guess which one? stop that. TAKEN 2!!! Mister Man is the best.one thing you should know about me is that i have not seen that many movies. i'm just not a movie person. tv series watched in marathons are more my style. sidebar: did you know that dawson's creek is on netflix? i'm on season five already. but when i see a really good movie, i fall in love with it. i have to watch it if it's on tv, i like to own it on dvd (or are we on to blu-rays now? sorry for all the parentheticals, i have a lot of thoughts today), and you better believe i'm going to at least give the sequel a chance. taken is an amazing movie, mostly because liam neeson is the manliest man ever born. taken 2 is basically the same movie as the first, so yea, i'm excited.i guess once tonight is over, my weekend has already met my expectations. but it's not over! because there is a farmer's market to be visited, and MM promised to not treat it like a grocery store. there is also a marathon this sunday, did you know?did you know that the best way to experience a marathon is walking next to the race course sipping on a latte? it is. it's not running the marathon. it's accepting the fact that running one isn't even on your bucket list, and enjoying a nice fall morning watching other people cross it off their list. (but seriously, good luck to anyone running the 10 mile or marathon this weekend!)we're going to cap off the weekend by inviting ourselves over to my parents house for dinner. a free meal, a fire blazing and family time are going to be the cherry on top of the taken 2 date night cake. (or is taken 2 date night the cherry on top of the rest of it? i don't know anymore.)
