papa hools turned 50.
everyone. i'd like you to meet my dad. he turned 50 yesterday. and i wanted to give him his very own post, because this is the first (and only) blog he has ever read, and i wanted to say thank you for that. among other things."what? how can that man be 50 years old?", you may be asking yourself. "he doesn't look a day over 30!" this is true. my father has a magic power that allows him to never age. my mom has it too. genetics!in addition to being the amazing anti-aging man, my dad is just an amazing man period. he has managed to raise five kids to be successful, well-rounded adults, just by showing us how to be good people. whenever i want to figure out what the right thing to do is, i just have to think about what he would do in the same situation. hasn't failed me yet.he taught me that nothing is more important than God, your family, and your friends, in that order.he taught me to do my best at work, but that you work to live, you don't live to work.he taught me that snorkeling is fun, not scary, and that when you see dolphins, you should always swim out to see if you can get close.he has been to all my sporting events, recitals and concerts, even when his job requires him to travel about 50% of the time. he's a miracle worker.he gave the best speech at our wedding, and loves my husband like one of his own kids, which means the world to me.he loves my mom more than life itself, and has been the best example of how to be a good spouse and cultivate a loving marriage even after 26 years.happy birthday papa hools. i hope that 50 brings you all the joy that you deserve and more. thank you for spending half your life being my dad, it's the best thing you've ever given me. can't wait to celebrate with you! i love you.
