the ugly bathroom makeover.
it's amazing what a coat of paint can do.lovelies, meet my least favorite color in the entire world. hands down, no contest, i hate this the most. it still gives me heart palpitations when i look at the photos. you will see it in various lights during this post, and they're all bad. but this one really shows how beautifully the old bathroom bathed you in a sickening green light. this room was one of the only ones that i could not fathom living in for even one second before changing (still, it makes you question the judgement of people, when you find a room like this). the rest of our beautiful little house is great, and most rooms don't need any work done at all, so it's not as if i'm living in a sea of bright neon, but i mean, you spend a lot of time in the bathroom! and if my skin looks green, how am i supposed to do my makeup appropriately in the morning??[gallery type="square" ids="2066,2065"]i mentioned this in my last post, but i happen to have a brother who has some (read: tons of) experience with painting houses. and this brother happens to be wonderful and kind and giving, and he volunteered to paint our bathroom the day we moved in so it could be done in one day. it was so great that he did that, because as you can see from above there were a few tight spots that would have been impossible for me and my patience level to deal with. and oh my goodness. mister man and i are talking about what the best form of payment would be in exchange for this amazing favor. a case of scotch? our first-born child? we haven't decided yet.[gallery type="square" ids="2071,2074"][gallery type="square" ids="2072,2073"]now the bathroom is one of my favorite places in the house. it's relaxing and calming and allows the light to reflect on your face in a more true-to-reality color. all we changed was the color of the walls, and added a new shower curtain. we already had all the accessories from our prior place, and the cabinets, hardware and radiator covers were already there, care of the prior owners. if you keep in mind that this house was built in 1928, it's a super impressive upgrade, if i do say so myself.[gallery type="square" ids="2078,2079"]so yea, it's amazing what a coat of paint can do.details:
