bernadette: nine months old.
full disclosure: this photo was taken the day that Bernadette turned 10 months old. i was so close you guys. SO FRICKING CLOSE. at least i got a photo and avoided a repeat of month seven huh? nevermind that she has her four top teeth in this photo, which she did not have until last week. i will take my wins where i can. (Bernadette, if you ever read this, i love you as much as your other siblings, but life is just so busy that monthly photos are not my main priority. put me in a nice nursing home okay?).
Bernie girl got to take her first trip to the Smylie cabin for the 4th of July weekend, and she really liked it. she got to eat as much watermelon and brats as she wanted, and she got to crawl around eating grass all day too. as a special gift to her parents, she also decided that the cabin would be a good place to start sleeping through the night. THE ANGEL CHORUS SANG FOR JOY. so did we. like i actually wept happy tears because i slept through the night for the first time in almost a year. there is a light at the end of the tunnel if you needed to hear this today. and yea, sometimes it takes a while to get there, but it's there.
another gigantic milestone that may or may not have contributed to the sleeping through the night was that little goosie girl officially weaned from breastfeeding as of the day she turned nine months old. i did my very best to nurse her for as long as i nursed William, and we made it, and then she made it very (VERY) clear that it was time to switch to formula. this girl is the most distracted eater i've ever encountered, and she just didn't have the time for my slow flow. it was very unceremonious and i was very okay with it, and boy is it nice to not have to be back for every feeding. also i got new bras without clips and that is pretty great too.
Bernadette is not quite walking all the way yet, just a few wobbly steps here and there, but she will basically be full-on walking in the next week or so. you guys want to know my secret for getting all my babies to walk before 10 months old? it's steroids. i just put hardcore steroids in their bottles. i don't know why more people don't do it. (jkjkjkjk, i have no idea how they do this, apparently Mister Man and my genes just make for really strong children?).
miss Bernadette: please stop growing up. but keep sleeping through the night. i like that part of your growing up. now you don't make me drink all the coffee, just some of it. we love you Bernadettesky!
