humpday happy list.

throughout the Christmas season, i will be linking to my post about zach at the beginning of every post. in the spirit of the season, please consider sharing his story and/or making a donation to the zach sobiech osteosarcoma fund. then give someone you love a hug. last night i posted this as my status on facebook: "let's just all agree to stay inside for a week after the next snowstorm. i think we would all be happier." i firmly believe in this statement and think that snowstorms just need to be treated as mother nature giving us a nice winter timeout. especially when mndot and st. paul public works can't get their business together to clear the roads of snow and ice and your 2-mile commute takes 30 minutes. for all you analogy nerds out there, that's the same amount of time it takes to walk 2 miles. so this week i'm trying to find things i like about winter and staying inside my apartment all the time. it's emotional meditation.1) humpday beverage: caribou fa la latte.let me tell you how to order this drink. medium, with the eggnog 75% diluted with skim milk, no whip. do not order it without these adjustments, or you will feel like you've just ingested two Christmas seasons worth of eggnog. and no one needs that in their life.falalatte2) humpday boots: ugg baroness.this one might make a few people antsy. both the ugg haters and the women's snowboot haters (i'm looking at you andy) are going to think this is a terrible thing. but i love these. and i really, really want them. because come on. and plus my sorels are short and snow gets inside them when it snows 15 inches like it did last weekend. i just think tall snowboots are practical. and when you get practical and cute together, well, that just gives me the happy giggles.ugg3) humpday candle: french baguette.you guys know me. i'm pretty level-headed. i've never become, say, OUT OF CONTROL OBSESSED with a candle before. but here i go again. this smells like buttery bread baking in the oven. it fills your house with a scent that makes people think you are baking homemade bread. my goal for this winter was to find a candle that represented winter to me, but then this came into my life and if i light a different candle now, i'll feel like i'm cheating on it. personification of inanimate objects is my kryptonite.baguette4) humpday recipe: homemade whipped cream (from the williams-sonoma bride & groom cookbook).1 1/2 C. heavy whipping cream1 Tbsp. powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla extractwhisk the crap out of it until it's fluffy and the whipped cream forms little peaks when you accidentally fling it off of a spoon and onto your stovetop. this is delicious on everything. waffles. chocolate chip waffles. scones. shortcakes. a spoon.cookbook5) humpday guilty pleasure: felicity on netflix.hmmm. it seems that this humpday happy list has devolved into "erin's obsessions round 2". if you're new here, let me introduce you to my obsession with dawson's creek. well, tv shows end, and you feel lost and lonely, but because netflix cares about you (unless you want to watch any good movie that was actually in theaters at some point), they will recommend what show you can start wasting your time with next. enter felicity. and now i have to workout to dvds at home so i can watch this always.felicity(see my past humpday happy lists here)
